Carved out of the Southern -  Eastern 16 districts of the former Madhya Pradesh state, Chhattisgarh came into being on 1st November, 2000.The state is surrounded by six states. It is drained by number of rivers, namely. Seonath, Mahanadi, Hasdo, Rihand, Mand, Kanhar and Indravati.

 Majority of the population is of scheduled tribes. Agriculture is the mainstay of state economy. Rich in forest and mineral resources and with a surplus of power not to be speak of the diamond mines,in Bastar ready to be exploite, Chhattisgarh state has all the potentials to grow into one of the most wealthy states in the country.
