Overlooking the Arabain Sea on its west. Maharastra is the third largest state and ranks second in terms of population. The coastal strip, about 720 cm long, is the konkan, dotted with paddy fields and coconut groves. The western Ghats run almost paralle to the sea coast. Historically, Maharashtra dates back to the period of the Mahabharata as Vidarbha. The state was in its peak during the rise of Shivaji with Mahatha Kingdom becoming very powerful.

 The state is one of the most industrially and commercially developed areas in India. This not alone, you can find here hundreds of shrines of all faiths and artist skils of people nowhere more evident than its cave temples. Apart from culture and history, Maharastara offers a traveller idyllic bliss in a land blessed by nature.
