Nagaur
is
one of the most picturesque of Rajput township. The town is
cordoned in by massive rampart and has to be entered through
stately gates.
Nagaur
was granted to Amar Singh Rathore by emperor Shah Jalan. At
the main entrance to the town there is a complex of royal
cenotaphs pool.
The
Nagaur fort contains many royal apartments such as the Moti
Mahal, Badal Mahal and Hawa Mahal. The Baradari or courtyard
has walls painted with beautiful murals in a synthesis of the
Persain and Nagaur styles. Frescoes of dancers and flowers
adorn the walls.
Nagaur boasts of palatial houses and temples. The walls and
main entrances are decorated with paintings of regigious
esispode from Ramayana and Mahabhararta. The paintings in the
Jain temples depict motifs related to the life of lord
Mahavira and Parsavnath. Also worth visiting is an ancient
mosque built in the 15th century and another old
mosque known as Tarkin Dargah. Other palaces are Jain temple,
Saiji ka Tanka, Cenotaph of Amar Singh and Banshi wala temple
etc.
